Mary King, MT-BC | Music Therapist
Mary brings an open, client-centered, and peaceful approach to her sessions. Her mission is to provide opportunities for clients to express themselves freely and safely, while focusing on bringing joy and purpose to their lives. Mary is a dedicated caretaker and helper. Her unique understandings of trauma and living with disabilities have led her to train in Nonviolent Communication and Collaborative Problem Solving. Through these unique approaches, she hopes to help clients discover the tools they need to self-regulate and overcome the challenges they face in everyday life. Being of service to others as well as personal experiences with the healing power of music have shaped her into the enthusiastic practitioner she is today.
Mary advocates for the neurodivergent and disabled with great ardency. She has homeschooled her children for 20 years, and volunteered for the Girl Scouts and local athletic teams in addition to her very musical life! From starting to sing at a young age, to learning how to play the drums and piano in her teens, Mary has always sought out opportunities to engage with music. She currently is a member of the Oregon Chorale Symphonic Choir and will gladly join any jam session or drumming circle. Her “hidden talents” include knowing how to twirl a baton and being able to make animal balloons!
