Liz Farrell (she/her), THP, BACB, QMHA | Therapeutic Horticultural Practitioner
Liz Farrell is a Registered Horticultural Therapy Practitioner (THP) and a dedicated advocate for the therapeutic value of our natural environment. With a background in horticulture, behavioral health, and landscape design, Liz facilitates nature-based therapeutic sessions that support emotional regulation, skill development, and sensory engagement.
Liz primarily works with individuals with developmental disabilities, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and those in memory care settings. By integrating elements of behavioral therapy and a trauma-informed approach, she creates sessions that are both supportive and goal-oriented, centered around gardening, horticultural education, and nature crafting.
Her therapeutic philosophy is grounded in meeting people where they are, honoring each individual’s pace, preferences, and strengths. Sessions with Liz often involve hands-on tasks like seed planting, garden maintenance, or sensory-based activities, experiences that promote connection, calm, and a sense of accomplishment.
Liz holds a B.S. in Horticulture, is a Registered Behavior Analyst Certification, and has additional credentials as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) and a landscape designer. She is currently exploring graduate programs to expand her therapeutic practice and deepen her work with diverse populations.
Outside of sessions, Liz enjoys hiking with her dog Poppy, exploring Portland’s local food scene, and adding new life to her yard.
